NJCC Morristown Quads Report

The NJCC - Morristown Quads -- U1000 tournament concluded with an exciting and competitive atmosphere! A huge congratulations to Boris Gekhtman, who dominated the event and secured 1st place with a perfect score of 3.0! Aarush Samanta put up a strong fight to claim 2nd place, finishing with 2.0 points, and Ryan Daniel Vorgity earned 3rd place with an equally impressive 2.0 points.

Initially planned as a quad format, the tournament transformed into a Swiss system (G/25, 3 rounds) due to the enthusiastic participation of eight players. This adjustment ensured everyone could enjoy a dynamic and engaging chess experience.

A special shoutout goes to Steve Doyle, a dear friend and a stalwart of the chess community. His generous volunteer work and thoughtful gesture of providing delicious pizza ensured the kids had both fun and energy throughout the event. Thank you, Steve, for helping us make this event memorable and imparting valuable wisdom!

This tournament represents a significant step in bringing chess back to Morristown. Thank you to all the participants, parents, and supporters who made this possible. Your enthusiasm and love for chess are the driving forces behind the revival of this beautiful game in our community.

Stay tuned—more tournaments are on the horizon, and we can’t wait to continue sharing our passion for chess with everyone!
