The New Jersey Chess Club is excited to announce the Princeton Open at the Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village, replacing the renowned Continental Chess Open at Foxwoods. This thrilling event, held during Easter weekend, promises five days of intense chess competition and community connection.

Event Highlights:

  • Dates: April 16-20, 2025 (options for participation starting April 17 or 18)

  • Venue: Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village, 201 Village Blvd, Princeton, NJ – just minutes from Princeton University and within easy reach of New York City and Philadelphia.

  • Grand Prix Points: 200 (Enhanced)

  • Prize Fund: $60,000 guaranteed across 7 competitive sections

  • Sections: Open (GM & IM norms possible), U2200, U2000, U1800, U1600, U1400, U1100

  • FIDE Rated: Yes, ensuring global recognition for participants

  • Accessibility: Fully handicap accessible

  • Blitz Tournament: Special blitz event on Saturday night at 9:30 PM

Competition Details:

  • Format: Swiss-system with various scheduling options, including 5-day, 4-day, and 3-day formats.

  • Time Controls: Standard 40/80, SD/30; d30, with rapid rounds for 3-day early games.

  • Entry Fee (EF): Ranges from $228 online by April 14, with slight variations for late or in-person registration. Discounts for seniors and Under 1100 section players.

  • Mixed Doubles Prize: Compete as male-female pairs for additional rewards.

Join us for the 28th Annual Eastern Chess Congress, featuring a guaranteed $25,000 prize fund across seven sections. This prestigious tournament is a recognized Heritage Event, an American Classic, and part of the US Chess Junior Grand Prix, offering 150 Enhanced Grand Prix points.

Tournament Details:

  • Format: 5-SS, 40/80, SD/30; d30 (2-day option available, rounds 1-2 G/60 d10)

  • Schedules:
