28th Annual Eastern Chess Congress – Heritage Event, American Classic, and Junior Grand Prix

Join us for the 28th Annual Eastern Chess Congress, featuring a guaranteed $25,000 prize fund across seven sections. This prestigious tournament is a recognized Heritage Event, an American Classic, and part of the US Chess Junior Grand Prix, offering 150 Enhanced Grand Prix points.

Tournament Details:

  • Format: 5-SS, 40/80, SD/30; d30 (2-day option available, rounds 1-2 G/60 d10)

  • Schedules:

    • 3-day schedule: Registration ends Friday at 6 PM, rounds Friday 7 PM, Saturday 11 AM & 5 PM, Sunday 10 AM & 3:30 PM

    • 2-day schedule: Registration ends Saturday at 10 AM, rounds Saturday 11 AM, 2 PM & 5 PM, Sunday 10 AM & 3:30 PM

Prize Breakdown (7 Sections):

  • Premier (2000+): $3,000, $1,500, $800, $500 (Top U2300 $1,000, $500)

  • Under 2100: $1,800, $900, $500, $300

  • Under 1900: $1,500, $800, $500, $300

  • Under 1700: $1,400, $700, $400, $300

  • Under 1500: $1,200, $600, $400, $200

  • Under 1300: $1,100, $600, $400, $200

  • Under 1000: $800, $400, $300, $200

Special Awards:

  • Mixed Doubles: Top male/female combined team score: $1,000, $500, $300 (teams must average under 2200)

Entry Fees:

  • Top 6 sections: $138 online by October 23, $160 at the venue

  • Under 1000 section: $40 less than other sections

  • No mailed entries, credit cards accepted

Additional Information:

  • Free parking and amenities such as a fitness center and nearby restaurants

  • Hotel rate: $149, reserve by October 3 for chess rate (call +1 609-520-1200)

  • Blitz tournament: Saturday 9:30 PM, register by 9:10 PM
